In 2007, we launched Burn To Shine Natural Candle Co. as a direct response to health and environmental concerns about air pollution caused paraffin wax candles and the extensive use of synthetic fragrances in our society. Our candles have been embraced by those who make a natural and ethical choice when burning candles in the home, wedding, yoga studio, massage room, restaurant or retreat centre.
It makes sense to choose to burn candles that are made from a wax with strictly no additives to avoid unnecessary exposure to concerning levels of carcinogens, neurotoxins and reproductive toxins, which are found in the petrochemical sourced paraffin wax and the petrochemical-based synthetic fragrance oils used to scent candles.
Towards Organic Bee...
A new era is dawning and as an organic consumer it made perfect sense to move from pesticide free beeswax to certified organic beeswax.
But not just from any source - it had to be Australian, it had to be a trustworthy certifying body and from an area that values our bees for the amazing pollinators that they are and that contribute to a third of the food we eat every day.
We have been using Australian pesticide-free wax since our inception and we have now been testing our new NAASA certified organic beeswax. As a consumer of certified organic produce for many years, it is reassuring to begin this rigorous process to become a Certified Organic Processor and grateful for every business before us to be joining them in supporting TRULY sustainable agricultural practices and ensuring the future of our food security.
Here in Australia’s own back garden is the world’s oldest bee sanctuary. Just off the South Australian coast lays an island where the pure bred Ligurian bees forage across the native bushland of Kangaroo Island. In the late 1880’s, the Ligurian bees came from Italy and the island changed its laws to ensure no other bee species were to be introduced and it still stands to this day. The wildflowers are bee distilled to light our way forward into the new era of producing and using products that are nurturing for us, our animals and our earth.
